Obbie Messakh (born 26 April 1957) is an Indonesian singer and songwriter. he is a descendant of Rote, East Nusa Tenggara. He was known for his songs which were often popularized by famous singers at that time, such as Betharia Sonata and Helen Sparingga. He played a big role in the continuity of the music industry at that time because his songs always skyrocketed on the market.
Obbie Messakh became popular in the 80s through his song entitled "Kisah Kasih Di Sekolah" ("The Story of Love at School")
Since childhood he lived and grew up in Jakarta. He played a very important role in creating singers whose names then skyrocketed by performing the songs he created.
Nearly all of the artists he orbits sell over 400,000 CDs. Obbie appeared in the national music scene in 1983.
At that time, the national music market was controlled by JK Records, a record company owned by Judhi Kristiantho. Obbie was chosen by JK to become a songwriter with Pance F. Pondaag, Maxi Mamiri, Wahyu OS and JK himself and Deddy Dores.

Pop kreatif (English: Creative pop) is an Indonesian offshoot and subgenre of Indo pop that emerged in the late 20th century as a fusion of Indonesian music and contemporary global influences such as funk, jazz, and soft rock. Rooted in urban culture, the genre often characterized by its smooth melodies, upbeat rhythms, and nostalgic themes. Initially the genre had been associated and reflective to the rapid modernization and economic growth of Indonesia during the 1980s and early 1990s. Pop kreatif gained popularity among Indonesian youth and has since been gained a resurgence within the Indonesian music scene.[1]
