Oil on canvas board painting is signed at lower right by noted highly collected American 20th century folk art artist JANE WOOSTER SCOTT (1920-). The measurements are 18" by 12" painting and 24" by 20" framed with mat in gold metal contemporary frame. The painting is in very good condition, the mat of the frame has water stains. Jane Wooster Scott grew up in eastern Pennsylvania and was exposed as a youngster to the vivid Americana atmosphere that remained in the region into the 1940's. She moved west to hopefully become a movie star but ended up remaining in Los Angeles, though she returned to the east for inspiration. Scott originally copied Grandma Moses' style but moved on to create original works as her skills developed. An Ankrum Gallery, Los Angeles exhibition of original works, along with those of comedian and artist friend Jonathan Winters, catapulted her to notoriety. Her original paintings have been reproduced so often that Guinness Book of World Records has declared her one of the most reproduced artists in America.
