Dubai Cares launches Global Education Solutions Accelerator at COP28 with AKF as strategic partner
Dubai, UAE, 13 December 2023 - Reinforcing its commitment to making education transformation an achievable reality for every country in the world, Dubai Cares unveiled its ‘Global Education Solutions Accelerator’ (GESA) at COP28. AKF will act as a strategic partner for the Accelerator, aiming to fast-track education transformation across the 10 countries that are part of Schools2030 – AKF’s flagship education programme.
The innovative mechanism will help countries accelerate progress towards achieving SDG4 by 2030. Each country will identify and implement solutions that best address their education challenges and ambitions and allow them to leverage quality education systems as a core catalyst for sustainable development.
In its first phase, Dubai Cares and AKF are working to rapidly improve education in 10 countries (Afghanistan, Brazil, India, Kenya, Kyrgyz Republic, Pakistan, Portugal, Tajikistan, Tanzania and Uganda) through the Schools2030 initiative. Dubai, UAE (Expo 2020), 15 December 2021 – At the global education summit hosted by Dubai Cares, representatives from Schools2030 – the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF)’s flagship education programme – shared its approach to catalyse teacher and school-driven holistic learning innovations and achieve SDG4.
Rewiring education means thinking differently. For many years the global community has worked tirelessly towards the Sustainable Development Goals, yet the very best of intentions and millions of dollars spent has not changed the education landscape significantly enough for many marginalised learners across the world.
Now in the face of conflicts, climate change and the ongoing pandemic, ensuring access to quality education means rethinking – or rewiring – the sector’s approach to tackle these challenges head on in coordination with communities, as well as at the global level.
