1. Can you tell us about your background and experience as an entrepreneur?

As a founding team, all three of us, Mohit, Ravinder and myself come with financial services and entrepreneurial experience. Before starting IndiaP2P, I co-founded and operated Greenway Grameen, a climate-tech and energy access business solving for the lack of clean cooking stoves in rural areas. Most rural Indian households still use mud chulhas for some or all of their cooking needs. At Greenway, I worked closely with women as end-users and distributors to witness how the self-help group and microcredit movement was seeing huge success on account of disciplined financial management by women. Ravinder was also lending to this borrower segment in his previous role at one of India’s largest NBFCs and Mohit was already developing fintech solutions for rural BNPL programmes when the three of us convened.

1. How did you come up with the idea of IndiaP2P and what inspired you to start the company?

Clean Cooking Alliance Announces 2019 Woman Entrepreneur of the Year

The Clean Cooking Alliance (Alliance) has named Neha Juneja, CEO and Co-Founder of India’s largest cookstoves manufacturer Greenway Appliances, as the organization’s 2019 Woman Entrepreneur of the Year. The award recognizes outstanding female leaders in the household energy sector who are advancing clean cooking solutions in emerging markets.

Juneja founded Greenway in 2011 to deliver “high- and immediate-impact” household energy solutions to consumers in developing countries. Born and raised in India, Juneja felt a personal connection to this everyday challenge facing so many families. “It seemed very odd to me that, on one hand, we are going to Mars, and on the other hand, we haven’t found an appropriate solution to deliver clean cooking to half the world’s population,” said Juneja.

Juneja and her team consciously chose to serve consumers at the bottom of the pyramid, to set an example of a viable and successful business model that focuses on the needs of low-income customers.
